Widely accepted as a relaxing, non-obtrusive radio station with a format, perfect for "in office" listening, KLUX positions itself as "Good Company", achieving its mission by carefully weaving its musical offerings with brief non-commercial messages that speak to peace, hope, and especially to the joy that goes with knowing Christ and the GOOD NEWS. So powerful is this combination of evangelization and Easy Listening Music that, on a weekly basis, KLUX touches one out of every ten people 12+ years old in the 2 county, Corpus Christi metropolitan area.
While KLUX is on-the-air daily with a sound that is unparalleled in the marketplace and with an apostolate of evangelism that is unique in the Church, the more traditional long-form offerings are also available. Sunday mornings on KLUX reach out to those who look for the teaching magisterium of the Catholic Church in a more formal setting, with over 6 hours of instructional and liturgical programming, in both English and Spanish, including the Rosary and Sunday Mass Liturgy, LIVE from Corpus Christi Cathedral. Listeners of other religious beliefs, including some with no belief at all, keep KLUX firmly set on their radios at home, at the office and in the car. They know they can count on KLUX to always be there with kind thoughts, spiritually uplifting insights, accurate information about community events, weather, community emergencies and, of course, music that relaxes and helps the stresses of the day melt away. The KLUX MISSION is to provide positive, wholesome programming, that promotes and amplifies Catholic values to the largest possible audience, while enriching and gladdening the hearts of people of all faiths. Above and beyond its Christian-based messages, the community involvement of KLUX is exemplary as the station's public service commitment is unrivaled. Announcements dealing with health issues, nutrition, housing, employment, education and family life are generously distributed throughout the broadcast day and air far more than any other station in the market. All this is accomplished utilizing creative thirty and sixty second announcements. This approach generates and holds listeners who otherwise might have never been touched.
In the past 12 months KLUX has broadcast over 20,000 inspirational announcements and more than 40,000 public service announcements to the benefit of its listening audience. So strong is the station's community commitment that in the year 2000, KLUX was one of two stations nationally that was honored for its total commitment to community service and positive programming as part of the annual Gabriel Awards Recognition sponsored by UNDA USA. For two years in a row the station has dominated the Radio spot announcement category in the National Proclaim Award Competition sponsered annually by the US Catholic Conference of Bishops and the Catholic Communicaitons Campaign. In 2001, KLUX received the radio proclaim award for its "Today in the Church" Series. In 2002 the station was honored again with the Proclaim Award for its popular "Ask the Padre" feature. KLUX is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to Diocesan Telecommunications Corporation as a Non-commercial Educational FM Broadcast station and is supported in part by a generous annual gift from the faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi by way of their pledges to "The Bishop's Annual Appeal". Additionally a large portion of the monthly operating expense is funded by the regular support of committed KLUX Underwriters and donations from listeners across South Texas. For all of these, we are extremely grateful. For more information on KLUX or to communicate with the General Manager, email us at klux@GoCCN.org. We will be more than happy to answer any questions. Definitely a unique apostolate for Christian Evangelization and the Catholic Church... |
